Cloud hosting that fits the workload.

Understand the infrastructure, scaling options and billing model. A cloud label alone does not tell you how resilient or hands-off a hosting plan will be.

UNDERSTAND THE CATEGORY

What is cloud hosting?

Cloud hosting uses virtual infrastructure supplied from a pool of computing resources. Products range from individual cloud servers to managed application platforms. Your plan’s architecture determines how scaling, recovery and availability actually work.

When it fits—and when to look elsewhere

A useful option when

  • You need a choice of server resources or deployment regions.
  • You want to adjust capacity as your application evolves.
  • You can budget for variable usage or choose a defined managed plan.

Reconsider when

  • You assume a single cloud server includes automatic failover.
  • You cannot monitor usage-based costs and service limits.
  • A simpler fixed plan already meets the workload and support needs.

THE BUYING CHECKLIST

How to compare cloud hosting

Scaling mechanics

Ask what scales automatically, what requires a restart and whether the database or storage must be resized separately.

Availability design

Clarify backups, recovery targets and whether the application actually spans multiple failure zones.

Billing boundaries

Check bandwidth, snapshots, storage, databases and third-party service costs, as well as the server price.

Provider notes and trade-offs

These summaries use existing HCC provider data. Review the exact plan and conditions before purchase.

Questions before you choose

Is cloud hosting the same as VPS?

The terms can overlap. A VPS describes a virtual-server product, while cloud describes the infrastructure and delivery model. Compare concrete capabilities.

Does cloud mean automatic scaling?

No. Some services require manual resizing. Confirm what the selected plan can scale and which application changes are needed.

Why is only one provider listed here?

The current HCC dataset has one clearly described managed-cloud plan for this view. We do not reuse shared-hosting prices as cloud-plan quotes.
