HOSTING RESEARCH / DEDICATED HOSTING

A dedicated server starts with a capacity plan.

Evaluate physical-server resources, management scope and recovery arrangements for workloads that need a server of their own.

Our current comparison dataset does not include dedicated hosting plan quotes. Use the category-specific guide below to compare proposals. We have kept entry-level shared-hosting prices out of this shortlist.

UNDERSTAND THE CATEGORY

What is dedicated hosting?

Dedicated hosting assigns a physical server to one customer. It offers a different resource and control model from shared hosting, but does not remove the need for backups, security maintenance and a tested recovery process.

When it fits—and when to look elsewhere

A useful option when

  • Your workload needs a particular hardware configuration.
  • You need the resource model of a whole physical server.
  • You have operational support and a documented recovery plan.

Reconsider when

  • Your workload is small or changes too quickly for a fixed configuration.
  • You are choosing hardware before measuring the application.
  • You expect a single machine to provide redundant availability.

THE BUYING CHECKLIST

How to compare dedicated hosting

Hardware details

Compare CPU model, core count, memory, disk layout, replacement policies and available upgrades.

Connectivity

Check transfer allowances, port speed, traffic protection, IP allocation and the server location.

Operations and recovery

Define monitoring ownership, remote access, backup destinations and the process for a hardware failure.

Questions before you choose

Does dedicated mean managed?

No. Dedicated describes server allocation. Management is a separate service scope that should be confirmed in writing.

Do I still need backups?

Yes. A disk array or a dedicated machine does not replace a separate, restorable backup.

Why are no dedicated prices listed?

Our current comparison data does not contain dedicated-server plan quotes. Use the checklist to obtain comparable quotes instead of treating shared prices as dedicated prices.
